What is Avionics? 

Avionics is electronic systems and equipment specifically designed for use in aviation. Mashup of aviation and electronics. Sometimes can be referred to as aircraft electronics.  Work can include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, testing any of the electronic systems and wiring used in an aircraft or space vehicle. 

Avionics can include communication systems such as radio, navigation systems like radar and aircraft instrumentation, as well as missile control systems in military crafts and passenger entertainment systems on commercial airplanes.

Job titles related to avionics can include avionics technician or bench technician or avionics engineer. An avionics technician works directly on an aircraft while a bench technician makes repairs and adjustments to equipment that has been removed and taken to a shop.  In a smaller facility, a technician may perform both but usually they are separate positions requiring specialized training.
